The Boy & The Starfish

There are times in our life when we want to change the world... We may never be able to do that, but least we can do is to change somebody's world....

Once an old man was walking on the beach at dawn. He noticed a little boy ahead of him, picking up a starfish and flinging them into the sea. As the man watched, the kid picked one starfish after another & flung them into the sea. Wondering what the kid was trying to do, he caught up with the young boy & asked him why he was doing this.

The kid looked up with innocent eyes & answered that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. “But the beach goes on for miles and there are thousands of starfish,” countered the old man. “How can your effort make any difference.”

The young boy looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it to the safety of the waves. “It makes a difference to this one,” he said.

The Donkey attitude

When Life pushes you down... you got 2 options... to stay down there or get up,shrug off the dirt, brush yourself & move on...

Another story, that teaches just that....

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well
and happily trotted off!

MORAL:
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

New Pages & a poem....

Just added pages to my blog... wish i could post on these pages too but pity :-( all i cud do was add links..

Nwaz, atleast all the posts are sorted & easily accessible now (neat enough i guess :-) )

Its a little more organised now.. so unlike my mind (its an eternal clutter of thoughts & ideas)... lol...

out of these thoughts sprung a poem ( am so glad for it.. had'nt thought up a rhyme in ages now!!!)

So here goes.....

Just another thought…..

As I chase my way through a busy life
my mind stumbles on a thought,
it whispers quietly, then nudges & prods
& lest I ignore, it does shout!

It steals its way through my mind,
implores & forces me to pause;
a fleeting thought.. a random idea
I share before its lost….

Move on...

When was the last time that you were truly happy....

No complains ..not being grumpy... not cribbing....

This is a story worth listening to....

A wise man once sat in the audience & cracked a joke.
All laughed like crazy. After a moment he cracked the same joke again and a little less people laughed this time.

He cracked the same joke again & again, When there was no laughter in the crowd,
he smiled and said  "When u can't laugh on the same joke again & again, then why do u keep crying over the same thing over and over again.”

So Don't fret .. don't frown.. just smile & move on....

Sea breeze & shell frame

Another one photo frame decorated with potpourri...

Again the frame is made with cardboard, old news papers & lots of tissue papers...

This is how it looked at first...

We felt the colors looked  bit dull & the whole look was kind of unfinished!! so repainted the light blue part to a darker steel grey.. the texture really shows through in this...

To give it a richer look, used blue glitter liner to make patterns... Thats the final look sans a pic....

Sunset & the City

I love gazing up to the sky ... ever changing... ever enticing... ever beautiful...

If God is an artist, then the sky certainly is His canvas...

Captured the various hues of the evening sky with the sun setting over the Mumbai skyline

Sea breeze

My sister's latest creation...

Wanted to do something different with potpourri & she came up with this brilliant idea of creating a photo frame..& decorating it with potpourri...

This frame is made using basic stuff available at home... some cardboard, old newspapers, lots of tissue papers & of-course potpourri.

The potpourri used is "sea breeze"... nice soothing smell & cool colors..

The end result is fantastic (did I tell u she is brilliant)...

Peace of mind

My mind had been a whirlwind of activity for quite sometime now... so much that relaxing & just chilling had become a real conscious effort!!!!

A short story forwarded by a dear friend had a really soothing effect. This was a must share...

Once Buddha was traveling with a few of his disciples. While they were passing a lake, Buddha told one of his disciples, "I am thirsty. Do get me some water from the lake."

The disciple walked up to the lake. At that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, the water became very muddy and turbid. The disciple thought, "How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink?"

So he came back and told Buddha, "The water in there is very muddy. I don't think it is fit to drink."

After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake.

The disciple went back, and found that the water was still muddy. He returned and informed Buddha about the same.

After sometime, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back.

This time, the disciple found the mud had settled down, and the water was clean and clear. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha.

Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said," See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be, and the mud settled down on its own -- and you have clear water.

Your mind is like that too ! When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don't have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless."

Having 'Peace of Mind' is not a strenuous job; it is an effortless process!

New Beginings...

There’s so much running through my mind right now.. . I dint know where to start…

& jus then I heard this song by avril called “Innocence”, & immediately I knew this had to be my very first post…

I love this song & the lyrics is great…

Waking up I see that everything is okay
The first time in my life and now it's so great
Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed
I think about the little things that make life great

I wouldn't change a thing about it
This is the best feeling

This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay
This moment is perfect, please don't go away
I need you now
And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by

I found a place so safe, not a single tear
The first time in my life and now it's so clear
Feel calm I belong, I'm so happy here
It's so strong and now I let myself be sincere

I wouldn't change a thing about it
This is the best feeling

... stick along... its a fun ride ahead...
